The Liar and the Fool

 The Liar and the Fool

In the mid-eighties, a charlatan went to a mountainous area in the Central Plains (Henan Province) and pretended to be a deity. He said that he was the reincarnation of the living Buddha Tang Sanzang, who specialised in relieving hunger and suffering on earth. The local people actually believed in him, and they were particularly convinced, inviting him to red and white ceremonies, lightings and funerals.

In just a few years, he made a fortune. The girls and daughters-in-law in the village were often spoiled by him, and he lived a really leisurely and godly life.

But after only a few years of beauty, he was slaughtered and steamed one dark and windy night.

What happened? It turned out that a fool in the village, watching the Journey to the West on TV, could live forever by eating the meat of the Longevity Monk. So he took a slaughtering knife and kidnapped this living Buddha to eat the flesh of the Longevity Monk.

That night, the con man said to the fool in a bitter voice that he was only a mortal and just wanted to cheat some money, don't kill me.

The fool strained his neck and said, "Would the television cheat me? Would the whole village lie to me? They all know you are an immortal, so what else do you have to explain?

This story is quite intriguing. The biggest difference between a liar and a fool is:

A liar says something that even he doesn't believe, but the fools still believe in it ......
