Trump is appointing a lot of real clowns to his cabinet. Is Trump aiming to create the most dangerous circus in the history of the world?
Not even close. It’s not a circus. It may look a bit like a circus, and the clowns seem real, but the reality is very different. It’s not a circus In a circus: * Despite their appearance, the clowns are often capable jugglers, pretending to be clumsy. Many are competent acrobats. They are putting on a show—but fully aware of all that can go wrong. * Things are carefully scripted. * There are all sorts of rules and mechanisms — safety nets; emergency exits; and protections against electrical shorts, mechanical failures and escaping animals. It’s more like a reality show Trump supporters haven’t quite worked out that on the rare occasions when he’s not thinking only of himself, Donald sees the whole of reality as reality TV—with himself as hero. That’s why most of his picks are sycophantic Fox TV presenters. For him, illusion is the only thing. For him, reality never bites. Here he is, in full flow: “You know, if you want to go out and buy groceries, you need identification. He’s said this repeatedly. His grasp of the actual world is tangential. That’s why he’s one of the few people who can even fail at running a casino. (He’s also rather thick, which helps) But it’s not really a reality show, either However self-indulgent, apparently arbitrary and bizarre a reality show may be, there are many people behind the scenes, making sure that (mostly) really bad things don’t happen—or, if they do, they are captured and neatly edited before damage control kicks in. In Donald’s reality—let’s call this “USA 2.0”—a lot of the above doesn’t apply. So what are the differences, then? In USA 2.0, despite the superficial resemblance to both a circus and reality TV: * All the safeties are off. The safety nets are gone. The wild animals are free to roam. * The emergency exits are either blocked, or about to be blocked. * The fire hazards are very real—and nobody gives a f-ck. Nobody checked the equipment. * The performers are mostly not even vaguely competent, and in any case only for show. Medicare & Medicaid—Dr Oz, for gods’ sakes. Major ‘deus volt’ Hegseth running the military. Kristi ‘cricket’ Noem on homeland security. RFK Jr (FFS) running the department of ̶h̶e̶a̶l̶t̶h̶ anti-vax conspiracy theories. And so on. * Most of the competent “behind the scenes” people who know what’s going on have left, are about to leave, or will be fired by Elon Musk. * There is mostly no script. Scripting will generally be at the whim of how The Donald feels today.^† * If a big mutha f-cka in the crowd doesn’t like how you look, they can beat the sh-t out of you with impunity. All the crowd safety and security is, in fact, concentrated on protecting that big mutha f-cka, not you. Provided he’s white, and wearing an armband. It is, however, f-cking funny! The legion of spiteful, vindictive Trump supporters in the crowd, cheering him on, haven’t quite realised any of the above. Sooner, rather than later, almost everyone who voted for Trumpy McTrumpface will be quite surprised. They are currently sharing in the reality-impaired delusion. They think they are that big mutha f-cka. Right until they get a drubbing. Repeatedly. Again and again. The USA will be managed into the ground, like ̶T̶w̶i̶t̶t̶e̶r̶ X. Until there is almost nothing left of value. And all that is of value is in the pockets of Trump and his cronies. Me, I’m going to grab my popcorn. This should be fun to watch—from afar.^‡ But it’s far, far worse than even the most dangerous circus could ever be. It’s USA 2.0 !!!!! Enjoy. Dr Jo. ^* There’s also an element of “F-ck you all” in his choices. Of course. That’s the level he works on. ^† With Project 2025 quietly happening in the background. That’s the new “crowd safety and security” I mentioned above. Fascism. ^‡ Ideally, watch from a parallel universe, as everything the USA now touches will soon turn to shit. The environment. International trade. The world economy. International relations. The whole planet, in fact. But if we’re going to go down, we might as well be laughing at Americans—and mocking their crazy, fake religion. Which has always been a reality show.
