这些问题很容易传入日本人的耳目;

The Respected and Beloved Honorable General MacArthur Dear Sir:
The cool autumn has arrived, and I offer my best wishes for Your Excellency's health and diligence in the handling of your duties.
Without respect to
proper protocol, I am submitting this letter because I harbor some questions
about your "occupation policies.
" Many Japanese people are also dissatisfied.
Since the end of the war, we have breathed the air of freedom, and through your good policies, the slaves of the emperor have become free citizens and have come to value democracy, and the labor movement and farmers' movement have grown by the day.
I am truly grateful and moved from the bottom of my heart in so many ways.
Recently, however, the excesses of the soldiers of the occupation have become intolerable:
incidents of rape, armed robbery, and violence are too numerous to count.
The present situation is that after dark women and children and even others do not want to pass near the barracks of the occupation forces, so they choose a roundabout way.
How about the wages of those who work for the occupation forces?
Are you aware of their complaints?
It seems that interpreters and others are living in luxury by selling military goods on the black market.
These problems easily reach the eyes and ears of the Japanese people;
they spread to the whole population in no time and foster mistrust of America.
Absurd ideas are spreading:
"We lost, so we cannot help it.
We are under occupation, so even if communism is right, let's do as America says for now.
Then, we'll distinguish ourselves in an American-Soviet war.
We should attack America later.
"
Mr. Truman, General Eisenhower, and your country's top government of ficials praise America as the only democracy and insist that the Soviet Union is a dictatorial and totalitarian state.
Even people who once believed this view, as propagandized in progovernment newspapers, are now experiencing an antidemocratic America through your occupation policies.
More and more people are beginning to feel that the word dictatorship does not apply to the Soviet Union alone.
