如果巴勒斯坦人对以色列做的事情与以色列对巴勒斯坦人做的事情一样,你会作何感想?

I never understood these gotcha questions mostly because my moral compass isn’t broken and influenced by “I like People A but not People B therefore People B should suffer”. I’m a religious Muslim but I’ll still defend the rights of Pakistani Hindus despite what goes on in India.

I’m a proud Arabist yet I believe that there should be an independent Assyrian State for Assyrian Christians in northwestern Iraq as the Assyrians have made it clear that they do not want to be Arab or Arabized and recent events have proven the only way for the community to survive is if it is armed and well-funded.

I’m thinking Assyria should look like this but I’m not an Assyrian so my opinion doesn’t matter on the possible boundaries

This isn’t to say that there aren’t Moroccans, or even Arabs, who think differently from me. I’ve been told several times before that Israelis would need to be punished for previous atrocities but I strongly oppose such moves.

I always tell such Arabs the tale of the Prophet Mohammed and Mecca

In 630 Mecca broke its peace treaty forcing Mohammed to capture the city-state and its leaders such as Abu Sufyan who had killed so many Muslims, tortured many to death and was a tyrant whose name was spoken with contempt. Yet Mohammed forgave him and all the Meccans for the events of the 620s. What I take from that tale is very simple: defend yourself but don’t resort to the evils that others commit. Let their evils be theirs alone, do not share in it.

They committed ethnic cleansing, massacres, spoke of racial supremacy and many were giddy towards the oppression but that doesn’t mean the Palestinians have to resort to such behavior. Have better character, learn from the forgiveness shown in Mecca.

But if the Palestinians emulate Israel then I’ll do what I do with the Iraqis, the Sudanese and the Pakistanis. I’ll express disappointment and condemn the oppression. I don’t take joy in the sufferings of others so I will not celebrate if I see similar headlines come out of an independent Palestine.

Embracing racism, rabbis at pre-army yeshiva laud Hitler, urge enslaving Arabs
Recordings show instructors at settlement academy openly promoting Jewish supremacy; principal says Arabs want to live under Israeli occupation due to their genetic inferiority
By allowing towns to segregate, Israel may cross a different kind of red line
The wounds of America's redlining policy, which led to segregated housing, still fester 50 years after it was rescinded. Will the nation-state bill put Israel on the same path?
Arab man beaten by Bat Yam Jewish mob calls for calm: ‘We’re all human beings’
Saeed Mousa describes merciless assault by extremists, captured on film: 'I was going to the beach. What did I do to deserve this? Is it my fault I was born Arab?'

The goal is to be better, not just as bad.

No, no man rules alone. Stalin could not possibly manage an army with about 12 million people, and at 4 million in the field at its lowest point in the war. The reality as so often is more complicated, but far more sensible. The Red Army was ultimately controlled by the Stavka, the Soviet supreme com…

Let's be realistic here. The Vietnam War killed over 58,000 American service members wheras the Afghanistan war killed around 2000. There is no doubt that being sent to Vietnam was pouring fresh bodies into a meat grinder. Combat troops in Vietnam were disadvantaged in almost every dimension vs thei…
