极权国家是大众政治时代的一种社会组织方式。“极权主义”是指统治者不仅要对国家政府和经济，而且要对人民的思想进行无限制的控制。它结合了古代专制主义的绝对政治统治和一神论宗教无处不在的精神控制。
正如我们过去常常在苏联总结的那样：
“他们以各种可能的方式强奸你，并且喜欢听听你有多享受。”
因此，极权选举不仅仅是一种摆设。它们具有非常实用的用途。
- 大众政治意味着统治者需要民众授权来统治。即使是纳粹神秘主义也需要对他们的元首表现出压倒性的欣喜若狂的支持。
- 共产主义增加了选票上数字的防火确定性。
- 即使是现在，激进正义的拥护者也喜欢传播我们在苏联宣传中传播的关于我们自己的令人印象深刻的选举统计数据：吃掉那个，你们这些反共的骗子！
- 选举是一种粗糙但非常可靠的把握社会脉搏的方式，其政治反馈机制已被截断。你用投票率来衡量你的控制力。投票率低是危险蔓延的迹象。
