I think it is the difference in Israeli society compared to others that impacts the army as a whole.
Israeli societies are very close and through various experiences, you'll end up knowing a lot of random people in the army from various experiences in your regular life from outside the army.
So your CO in the army could be the guy who runs the laundromat down the street from your apartment or your subordinate could be your dentist. So soldiers in the army generally have a different level of respect for each other as they know that everyone is connected to them somehow.
A few examples:

Morality and morale.
The IDF is the most moral military force anywhere, ever. Officers and other ranks equally fight for their identity as Israelis and as Jews, and the heart of being Jewish is righteousness.
- Enemy combatants - even terrorists who would ruthlessly kill Israeli civilians given the chance - are given medical treatment beside Israeli casualties;
- An Israeli trooper who shoots an unarmed person who poses no immediate threat can expect to face a court-martial - there have been several well-publicised cases -;
- Great efforts are made to alert nearby residents before an Israeli attack - by
There was a joke in the late 1960s and it went something like this:
An Israeli general was taking an American reporter on a tour of a base. As they were walking along, the reporter said, “General, you may not have noticed, but that man we just passed did not salute you.”
The general responded: “He didn’t salute me? Let’s go back and see.”
They returned to the man and the general asked, “Goldstein, is it true that you didn’t salute me?”
Goldstein responded, “Yes, general, it is.”
The general then asked, “What’s the matter Goldstein? Are you mad at me?”
- They are led by example. The officer doesn’t sit back and say go get that hill boys, he gets up first and says follow me to get the hill. That’s why the ratio of officers to enlisted killed in the IDF is way higher than any other army.
- From the time of enlisting they are instilled with the premise that all life is sacred even of the enemy.
- They warn civilians to leave an area about to be attacked to minimize those casualties even though it warns the enemy combatants too.
- All they really want is to get home safe, Have a nice family dinner with Mom, dad and siblings.
- Over 80% are reservists. Most ar
Because we have always had to fight our own battles and we’ve done so to protect our families and loved ones. No foreign army has ever fought for Israel, contrary to most countries in the world, who demand the help of others the moment they’re threatened.
Standing alone makes you stronger..
Any?
Not only “any” but relatively “many” to what you would be expecting in a Jewish state (which suffered and still suffering by many Muslims outside Israel and within).
There are:
Beduim - who live mostly in the Negev desert. They are fine trackers. They can detect almost everything.
Druze- who live mostly in the Golan and Galil. They are proud warriors. It's in their blood.
Circassians- There aren't man
Because the UN is biased, they condemmed israel more then any other country in the world combined.
What are the benefits of joining the Israeli army?
Honestly, the Israeli army is not for everyone. It can be harder on some, and easier to others.
There are to many benefits to count but I will name a few of the top of my head:
- You gain a sense of honor and dignity, that only comes when you serve and risk your life for your country.
- Gain physical strength — In the IDF you train a lot, especially If you're a warrior.
- Gain mental strength — You will face many struggles, which will increase your mental tolerance and stability.
- Cultural benefits — In Israel, a part of your social identification is where
Israeli officers are not unique, they are just extremely good in what they do.
An Israeli officer is trained in modern western tactics and later strategy. The leading school of thought is the 'Distributed mission-oriented command' model you also find in the elite regiments of British, American and Australian forces.
He is very independent, trained to assess situations and adapt his actions to changing conditions and perform his duties when communications channels are degraded. He is also highly motivated and infused with the esprit de corpes that is the hallmark of the IDF.
His skills and train
The best airforce in the middle East with the absolute finest pilots in the whole world, a heavily armed artillery corps, armor corps and AA corps, a fleet of submarines capable of a classified range deployment (let's just say, China is not that far for them), a nuclear program that would put all countries beside US and Russia to shame, an intelligence corps that is known worldwide for its frighteningly far reach and people who fight for their nation's actual defense rather than a paycheck -
Honestly… this is the best army in the world, minus the manpower. The ONLY, TRUE people's defense army i
Every unit has its own set of specialized weapons, but there is a commonality amongst weapons used throughout different units in the IDF.
SR25
A relatively new sniper rifle used mostly by special forces with an effective range of 800–1,000 meters.
AK47
Most units in the IDF learn how to shoot and operate an AK, just in case we must use one in a dire time. The only unit that uses it on an operational basis are the Flotilla- 13 fighters.
Micro- Tavor
Israeli invented and manufactured, this 5.56mm assault rifle is ideal for both infantry and special forces, and is amongst the most common rifles in the
