You’re absolutely correct. Franco and Pinochet weren’t fascist. Fascism is a far left ideology. Fasci means labour union in Italian and Mussolini was a member of the Italian communist party. He left it and started a new party because it wasn’t radical enough for his taste.

Fascist also aren’t racists so calling the Nazis fascists is completely misleading. Mussolini’s girlfriend was Jewish and he had nothing at all against Jews.

I don’t support fascism but the way that some people confuse nazism, fascism and francoism with each other is appalling.

Nazis and fascist have more in common with communists than they have with francoism.
