当中国共产党建立新国家：中华人民共和国时，中华民国和中华人民共和国就已经是两个国家，不是同一个中国，成为两个中国。两岸同属一个中国是政治骗人的话术。因为中华人民共和国根本没有继承中华民国的权力与义务。
在毛澤東主持的會議之中，有關國號的討論時，毛曾主張維持「中華民國」這個老國名，而為華僑老財東陳嘉庚所激烈反對。
陳主張毛的新政權，應當和蔣的舊政權徹底劃清界線，絕不能再用「中華民國」這個老國名了。
幾經辯論，終於接納了張奚若「中華人民共和國」的建議。
年前余訪陳嘉庚墓，見其被紅衛兵砸毀的墓牆上所刻的水滸傳一百單八將的浮雕，不免感慨係之。
當年如沒這位熱愛水滸地老華僑的亂干國政，中華民國的國號，如果沒有被廢除，則今日海峽兩岸的「兩國論」，就說不出口，事情就好辦多了。
有地位權力，可以一言興邦喪邦者，動用鳥嘴，可不慎哉。

Had this old Chinese who loved the Marsh-land not interfered in the national affairs of the country, the ROC would not have been abolished, and the "two states theory" that we have today on both sides of the Taiwan Strait would not have been uttered, and things would have been much easier to do.
It would have been much easier to do so. Those who are in a position of power and can say things to make or break a country should be careful about using their mouths.

This is because the People's Republic of China simply does not have the power and obligation to succeed the Republic of China.
