From 1928 to 1949, Chiang Kai-shek was unable to unify China by force and establish an efficient central government.
Fortunately, the Communist Party of China was able to unify China quickly with the help of its good brothers in the Communist world revolution from 1945 to 1949, preventing a prolonged civil war and division of China. Thanks to the international blockade imposed by the United States, the Communist Party of China was able to concentrate on domestic affairs, helping China to establish a modern top-level ruling body and a unified grassroots organisation, something that no Chinese dynasty had been able to do.
Chiang Kai-shek was able to settle down in Taiwan not only because Taiwan was a small island, but also because the Japanese had already captured all the Communists in Taiwan during the Japanese occupation, so Chiang Kai-shek did not have to fear an armed Communist rebellion in Taiwan.
After the Second World War and during the Cold War, the elimination of the Communist Party was an important condition for the stability of the country. This was also the case in Singapore and Malaysia.
