The mosques built before Mughal invasions were looks more like a local temple, and not imitating any domes. For example cheraman’s Mosque. Mughals invaded and brought their architecture. Remember Mecca, the holy mosque doesn’t have a dome. It’s a cubic building with sharp edges.

In 1980s, Wahabbism started invading across India, and those foreign trained Mullahs and Imams brought hitherto unknown practices, and questioning every customs followed by South Indian Muslims as sons of soil. This causes an imaginary distance and divide between people. Before 1980s you wouldn’t see any black burkas. 90% of South Indian Muslims were wearing traditional costumes with some religious symbolism, which you wouldn’t see elsewhere.

With that account, I would welcome what Chinese government does is right in rebuilding the mosques in line with Chinese traditional architectures. Mosques are just a cleaner and bigger place for Congregational Prayers. There is no need for designers from Middle East for the mosques. Islamic teachings on God is the only thing to be taken into account and not necessarily to bring in their burkas, culture, architectures, etc. Muslims need not be Arabic. Societal integration is the need of the hour for Muslims in each country.

EDIT#1: : Chinese Government has demolished the under-construction mosque, because it was not built as per permitted design. Therefore, government intervened and demolished the building as per violation. Building a new Mosque as per permitted design, will be undertaken by the authorities. There’s no question of demolishing mosques or any other religious worshipping places in China. Dear Hindu Indian brothers, do not misunderstand that I support demolishing mosques, or Any other worshiping places. NO. I still don’t support demolition of Babri Masjid on flimsy unproven imaginary evidences. Let me make it clear. Chinese government wants Chinese people to follow Chinese customs and cultures and that culture shall not be marred by religions from outside China, by imposing the Middle Eastern culture on Chinese people in the name of religion. That’s exactly I oppose - the cultural invasion in the name of religion. South Indian Muslims were living with their native culture, despite they follow Islam until 1980s, and after that the culture was “invaded”. I am not supporting demolishing any religious buildings be it Temple, Churches or Mosques, as long as they are built as per law and the land title is own.
